Junior Leaders Conference conducted with insightful sessions on Day 2

The second day of ‘Gluco Ki JLC’ began with participants filing in early morning. The three day leadership summit is an assembly of more than 200 youngsters, between the ages of 10 to 15 years, brought together under an enlightening initiative from School of Leadership.  

The theme of the day was ‘Dare’ and pursuing this theme, the first activity of the day inspired the participants to ‘Build from the Broken’, where participants recycled various materials to create something new. Led by Waqar Ali - the Day Champ, the day featured a number of prominent experts, speakers, educationists, celebrities and trainers.

After a keynote session titled ‘Creator, Creation & Creativity’ by Umair Jaliawala, the talented participants enjoyed tea with their Enablers. A multiple intelligence model ‘Try, Test & Fail’ brought together experts to conduct workshops on themes such as photography, sculpture, robotics, choreography, fashion and much more with the participants.

Dalda helped bring together mothers for a special lunch during a ‘Caring Lunch with Mothers’ followed by a session that provided participants with the motivation to turn their interests into their passion. The youngsters brought their creativity to the forefront once again during the Junior Master-Chefs segment. A set of study tours provided an exciting opportunity for the participants to travel around the city, and the day ended with an outdoor activity titled ‘Be the Light’. 

The second day of the conference came to a close on the 16^th of July. Gluco Ki JLC will continue until Sunday, 17^th July, 2016. 

“Repeated blasts in Pakistan failure of security agencies”

All Pakistan Business Forum (APBF) has strongly condemned the bomb blasts in hospital in Quetta, leaving more than 50 dead and scores of injured, urging the government to focus on law and order situation.

APBF President Ibrahim Qureshi said that the blast in hospital of the city reflected failure of the security agencies and an eye opener for those who were sitting at the helm of affairs. He said special measures were needed to cope with deteriorating law and order situation as anti-social elements were hell-bent to destabilize Pakistan for their ulterior motives.

He condemned the deadly blasts and urged all the parties to take unified stand to weed out the menace of terrorism and termed the incident a cowardly act and an ugly attempt to de-stabilize country aimed at creating an impression of unsafe place in the eyes of international community.

He said the government would have to revisit and redesign its anti-terrorism policy as the existing methodology had failed to curb the acts of terror in the country. He urged the government to cope with law and order related incidents that had jolted the very basis of the country. He said it was very strange that despite all our efforts, terrorists were attacking the place of their choice and killing innocent people.

Ibrahim Qureshi said that any further delay in taking a strong stand against terrorists would cause undue damage to the country.

Criticizing the attack, he said foreign investment was already at the lowest ebb. This incident is an eye-opener for the entire nation, necessitating that all the segments of the society should exhibit unity while contributing to the government efforts to pre-empt the acts of anti-Pakistan elements, he added. He demanded of the government to bring the culprits to the justice and ensure foolproof security of the foreigners.

APBF president said that it was the responsibility of all stakeholders to devise a mechanism to secure the nation’s future and prevent terrorists from executing their nefarious designs. He said that such acts of terrorism took a heavy toll on business and investment activities in the country; therefore, a comprehensive solution to the issue was need of the hour to put the economy on the path to sustainable growth.

EcoStar States Suitable Distance & Height of Screen while watching TV

After getting LED TV buyers are found wondering two main problems. Mostly the real confusion in mind is what should be the most comfortable height of mounting LED and what could be the ideal distance between watching spot and screen. EcoStar aims to provide helpful information and step by step guidelines to its consumers.

Anyhow there is a simple method that can be practiced to determine both these measurements. Following is the mathematical formula for having best viewing experience.

Just get size of you LED Screen, i.e. 40 inches

Multiply size of LED with 3 and divide by 12 to get measurement in feet as following:

40 x 3 = 120 ÷ 12 = 10 ft.

So the formula can be stated as:

Size of LED (inches) x 3/12 = Distance from TV Screen to viewer (Feet)

So the ideal distance for watching a 44 inches LED TV is 10 ft. and there should be 10 ft. range between viewer’s eyes and screen, While the minimum distance can be checked though following calculations as:

40 x 2= 80 ÷ 12 = 6.6 ft.

It’s also important to mark that whenever answer comes in decimals only whole number before decimal point will be considered as final answer. For example in above case 6.6 ft. answer would be considered as 6 ft.

It should be clearly understandable that ideal distance is best distance that gives real feel while watching TV and minimum distance is the distance that cannot be harmful for eyes. By applying these formulas a quick opinion can be obtained that how far or how close viewer should sit. Anyhow distance can be increased, if eyes are felt over stressed.

Issue of Mounting LED can be resolved by adopting a simple method. Tip for spacing between LED TV and ground level is that, as generalized positioning is LED’s center should be aligned with eye level. But there is a standardized limit that Distance from ground to Center of LED should be between 24 inches to 42 inches as viewers comfort zone varies with height of viewer. These measurements are subjected for ideal distances just to enjoy the real feel and getting better viewing experience.

Lamudi Pakistan Announces Half-Year Results for 2016

Lamudi today announced its half-year results for 2016, showing good performance underpinning strong business growth.

●        99 percent increase in paid clients

●        104 percent rise in website traffic

●         87% net revenue growth

Lamudi marked its best half-year performance ever, with net revenue up 87 percent compared to 2015. More importantly, for an online property platform they observed a record-setting increase in the number of paid clients using the website. They recorded a jump of 99 percent in the number of agents and developers signed up in 2016.

“Despite a weak economic outlook in many parts of the world we have managed to grow our business beyond expectations,” said Saad Arshed, managing director of Lamudi Pakistan. Lamudi is reporting it’s best ever first-half growth figures and this speaks to the strength of our underlying business,” said Arshed.

In addition to strong revenue growth, Lamudi announced a 104 percent increase in website visitors in the period to May 2016. “This is an important metric for us, if people like our product, they return and they tell their friends, seeing such a large increase in website traffic means we are on the right track,” Arshed went on to say.

Lamudi—is unique in that it offers a full range of properties to buy or rent, from affordable studios to large-scale commercial buildings. Some months ago they introduced the Lamudi Real Estate App, which has made searching for property a much more convenient undertaking. “Our app means that as an agent you can list a property in just a few clicks and have it sold by the end of the day while for buyers it opens up the possibility of browsing through thousands of properties on the go,” said Arshed.
